IN THE BEGINNING.....
Catering to this nation's most distinguished guest is what the Mya Yeik Nyo
( which translates as Emerald Glade ) Hotels have been all about for many years.
In colonial times, sitting smack atop beautiful Mount Pleasant, Yangon's second
highest spot, the "Royal" was the official residence of the Chairman
of the Chartered Bank of India. Years later, it was requisitioned
by the Commanding General of the Japanese Occupational Army to be his own Headquarters.
After the war, a host of local Myanmar elite called the "Royal" their
home.
AND
TODAY...........
As
the twentieth century draw to a close, the new "Royal" now shares
the top of Mount Pleasant and its breathtaking views of Yangon and nearby
Shwedagon Pagoda with several other distinguished Mya Yeik Nyo Hotel properties
all of which, in their range of services and facilities, neatly compliment
both the old and new "Royal."
