IN THE BEGINNING.....
Catering to this nation's most distinguished guest is what the Mya Yeik Nyo
( which translates as Emerald Glade ) Hotels have been all about for many years.
In colonial times, sitting smack atop beautiful Mount Pleasant, Yangon's second
highest spot, the "Royal" was the official residence of the Chairman
of the Chartered Bank of India. Years later, it was requisitioned
by the Commanding General of the Japanese Occupational Army to be his own Headquarters.
